Harken Industrial Wingman, Compact Personal Mechanical Advantage System

The Wingman utilises advanced design and technology to enhance performance in a compact personal mechanical advantage system. Its innovative design is one of the first in its category to feature internal progress capture within the device itself, eliminating the need for external prusiks. The Wingman incorporates a ratcheting sheave to stop the rope, paired with a composite handle (or “wing”) that allows the operator to easily open and close the system under load, providing smooth, precise control.Even when fully loaded with the sheaves compressed, the system can be released with ease—one hand on the wing and the other managing the line.
With a minimum length of just 230mm, the Wingman offers better clearance under tripods and a greater range for pick-offs.It excels in creating adjustable directionals, work positioning, and other rigging tasks. The device can also be configured as a 4:1 or 5:1 mechanical advantage system, making it a versatile tool for many applications. These innovative features plus ball bearings within the sheaves that maximize efficiency for raising and lowering loads of up to 300kg, makes Wingman a simple tool you will always want at your side.
Wingman is a compact personal mechanical advantage (PMA) system engineered for technical rescue, rope access, and industrial safety applications where efficiency, control, and minimal footprint are critical. By applying new design and mechanical technology, Wingman delivers controlled progress capture and precise load release in a significantly smaller form factor than traditional systems.
- Integrated Mechanical Progress Capture Wingman is among the first personal mechanical advantage systems to achieve internal, mechanical progress capture within the device itself—eliminating reliance on external prusiks.
- Ratcheting Sheave with Controlled Release Wing A ratcheting sheave stops rope movement while a composite handle (“wing”) allows the operator to open or close the system under load for smooth, fine-tuned release.
- One-Handed, Fully Modulated Load Release Even under full load and with sheaves fully engaged, the system can be released easily and safely using one hand on the wing and the other tending the line.
- Ultra-Compact Form Factor With a minimum overall length of just 8 inches, Wingman provides:
- Increased clearance under tripods
- Greater throw during pick-off operations
- Improved efficiency in confined spaces
- Configurable Mechanical Advantage Wingman can be configured as a 4:1 or 5:1 mechanical advantage system, making it versatile for a wide range of rescue and work-positioning scenarios.
- High Efficiency Ball-Bearing Sheaves Integrated ball bearings maximize efficiency for both raising and lowering loads, reducing operator effort and improving system responsiveness.
- Technical rope rescue
- Pick-off rescues
- Adjustable directionals
- Work positioning
- Tripod and confined-space operations
- Industrial safety and access systems
- NFPA 1983 Meets the Manufactured System Requirements of NFPA 1983, incorporated into the 2022 edition of NFPA 2500.
- CE Certified (EU 2016/425) Certified under Regulation (EU) 2016:425 for personal protective equipment.
- European Safety System Compatibility When required, Wingman must be used as part of a comprehensive fall protection system in accordance with:
- EN 363
- EN 361-compliant fall arrest harness
